The Worshipful the Mayor of Medway, Councillor Steve Iles, was elected to chair the meeting.

12.

Appointment of Committee Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen

Discussion:

 

The report on the agenda for the Annual Meeting of Medway Council on 16 May 2018 set out the recommendations for the appointment of Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of committees excluding the Health and Wellbeing Board.

 

The Mayor proposed the recommendations as set out in paragraph 6.2(i) of agenda item 8 (Establishment of Committees, Appointments and Schedule of Meetings 2018/2019) on the agenda for the Annual Meeting of Medway Council. 

 

Decision:

 

The Joint Meeting of Committees agreed the appointment of Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of Committees as set out in Appendix B of item 8 of the agenda for the Annual Meeting of Medway Council.

Establishment, Allocation of Seats to Political Groups and Membership of Sub-Committees and One Task Group

Discussion:

 

The report on the agenda for the Annual Meeting of Medway Council on 16 May 2018 set out the recommendations for the establishment of Sub-Committees and their membership, and one Task Group.

 

The Mayor proposed the recommendations as set out in paragraph 6.2 (ii) and (iii) of agenda item 8 (Establishment of Committees, Appointments and Schedule of Meetings 2018/2019) on the agenda for the Annual Meeting of Medway Council agenda.

 

Decision:

 

a)    The Joint Meeting of Committees approved the establishment of Sub Committees (with terms of reference as set out in the Council’s Constitution), one Task Group, their size and the allocation of seats to political groups, with the waiver of political balance in relation to the membership of Licensing Hearing Panels in line with established Practice for these Sub Committees, as set out in Appendix B of item 8 on the agenda for the Annual Meeting of Medway Council.

 

b)    The Joint Meeting of Committees appointed Members to serve on each Sub Committee and Task Group as set out in Appendix B of item 8 on the agenda for the Annual Meeting of Medway Council.
