Type of organisation

Joint authority consisting of representatives from Kent, Essex, Southend, Medway, Thurrock and representatives from the Environment Agency and Natural England (set up from 1 October 2010 to replace the Kent and Essex Sea Fisheries Committee).

Purpose of organisation

Set up in October 2010 and will come into force on 1 April 2011 replacing the Kent and Essex Sea Fisheries Committee. The former committee had responsibility for enforcing fishing legislation within six miles of the Kent and Essex coast within the Thames Estuary.
