Summary
A bid for funding that will enable Medway to increase the frequency of its recycling and organics collections to weekly was submitted in August under the Department of Communities and Local Government's 'Weekly Collections Support Fund'. The bid has been built around efficiencies gained through extending the current service, making the unit cost of each collection cheaper than the current contract price. Variations to the contract specification, bill of quantities and schedule of rates will need to be approved and agreed in order to proceed with the scheme.
The Gateway process is being scheduled in anticipation of success as the timetable for mobilising the enhanced service is tight and critical.
