Cabinet will be asked to approve this Supplementary Planning Document for consultation. The aim of the this guide will provide developers, landowners and their advisors with clear advice on the main principles and minimum layout and space standards that will be expected in the design of new housing and in the conversion of existing properties. Compliance will be a consideration in the granting of planning permission and will apply to all proposals involving new units of accommodation. In addition, approval will be sought to the implementation Building for Life as a means of embedding housing design principles in development management processes.
