Protest of the 7 August 2024

Summary

This report will provide the Cabinet with an overview of a protest that had taken place in Medway on the evening of Thursday 8 August 2024.

It is noted that the Local Authorities (Executive Arrangements)(Meetings and Access to Information)(England) Regulations 2012 requires 28 clear days’ notice of the intention to make a key decision.

 

On this occasion it has not been practicable to provide 28 clear days’ notice because the protest had taken place after this point. It was not practicable to wait for the Cabinet meeting on 1 October to ensure that the Cabinet could be provided with an update as soon as possible.
