In 2007, Medway Council and English Heritage
appointed The Paul Drury Partnership to produce a conservation plan
for Rochester Castle. The plan aims to guide the future management
of the castle and its surroundings by:
·understanding how the castle has developed over time and
how it compares with other castles;
·defining its significance by explaining its architectural
and aesthetic qualities as a ruin, as well as its historic interest
and value to the local community;
·analysing threats to the significance of the site;
·setting out policies to deal with these threats.
