Summary

This report will set out the outcome of a call-in considered by the Regeneration, Culture and Environment Overview and Scrutiny Committee on 12 March 2018, in relation to Cabinet decisions (23/2018 and 24/2018) to approve the closure of Deangate Ridge Golf Course and associated golf facilities on the basis of ongoing substantial financial loss, which is unsustainable, on 31 March 2018 and to instruct officers to begin detailed planning for consultation and development of a new sports centre for the Hoo Peninsula, respectively.

The Committee has asked the Cabinet to reconsider decisions 23/2018 and 24/2018.

It is noted that the Local Authorities (Executive Arrangements)(Meetings and Access to Information)(England) Regulations 2012 requires 28 clear days’ notice of the intention to make a key decision.

On this occasion it has not been practicable to provide 28 clear days’ notice because a Special Cabinet meeting has been called for 28 March 2018 to deal with the matter and therefore Section 10 (General Exception) of the above regulations have been complied with.
