Summary

This report will set out a recommendation from the Business Support Overview and Scrutiny Committee on 27 October 2016 to request that the Cabinet carry out a strategic review of all of its significant open spaces to consider their future designations and how these can be maintained into the future.

It is noted that the Local Authorities (Executive Arrangements)(Meetings and Access to Information)(England) Regulations 2012 requires 28 clear days’ notice of the intention to make a key decision.

On this occasion it has not been possible to provide this 28 clear days’ notice and therefore Section 10 (General Exception) of the above regulations have been complied with. It was not possible to include this report on the Forward Plan with 28 days’ notice because of the timing of the Business Support Overview and Scrutiny Committee meeting (27 October 2016) and the clear wish of the Committee for a strategic review of significant open spaces to commence and conclude as soon as possible.
