Summary

The report will provide a review of the Council’s Local Welfare Provision (LWP) scheme. The scheme operates as a grant and not as a loan scheme. This ensures that money is spent on the items needed and claimants in a crisis situation are provided with a solution which is not in a monetary form but satisfies the need i.e. food, clothing, household goods etc.

The report together with any other documents being considered (unless they contain exempt information) will be available for inspection 5 clear days before the decision is taken by the Cabinet.
