The new proposed Controlled Parking Zone for Strood North Ward

We the undersigned petition the council to be achieving a scheme of parking control that addresses the many and varied circumstances from street to street within the new proposed CPZ. The current proposals are based on several assumptions which are not evidence based.

In order to construct appropriate proposals, the council should first collate detailed views and information from residents/businesses, thus producing a fair & appropriate proposal to put out to consultation.

In undertaking such consultation, the Council should be seeking to understand on a street by street basis: - the times that pressures of on street parking arise, - the nature of those pressures, - the types of vehicles creating problems, - the numbers of vehicles per household, - a review of disabled parking spaces / disabled drivers requiring assistance, - volume of commercial vehicles parked in residential streets, - the potential benefits of parking bays, - pavement parking, - needs of local businesses, - ability to pay.
