In order to construct appropriate proposals, the council should first collate detailed views and information from residents/businesses, thus producing a fair & appropriate proposal to put out to consultation.
In undertaking such consultation, the Council should be seeking
to understand on a street by street basis: - the times that
pressures of on street parking arise, - the nature of those
pressures, - the types of vehicles creating problems, - the numbers
of vehicles per household, - a review of disabled parking spaces /
disabled drivers requiring assistance, - volume of commercial
vehicles parked in residential streets, - the potential benefits of
parking bays, - pavement parking, - needs of local businesses, -
ability to pay.
