Urgent Action Required on Road Conditions

We the undersigned petition the council to urgently address the deteriorating condition of roads across Medway. Multiple potholes have reopened despite recent repairs, and loose aggregate now covers much of the road surface. Stones are being thrown up by passing vehicles, causing damage to cars and creating a clear safety risk to motorists, cyclists and pedestrians. We request an immediate inspection, removal of loose aggregate, and a permanent, high-quality repair with a clear timeline for completion.

The rapid failure of recent repairs raises concerns about workmanship and value for public money. Temporary patching is not a long-term solution.

Residents are facing significant increases in vehicle taxation to ensure our cars are roadworthy, yet the roads themselves are not being maintained to a standard worthy of the vehicles using them. It is unreasonable to expect motorists to meet ever-rising financial obligations while basic infrastructure is allowed to deteriorate so rapidly.
