Discussion:

The Chairperson informed Members that, following discussions with the Vice Chairperson, Opposition Spokesperson, Licensing Team and Legal Services, he proposed that consideration of the agenda item be deferred. This would enable further discussions to take place and allow a more detailed report to be prepared, which would include information on timescales, engagement with consultees and the implications of the forthcoming Local Government Reorganisation.

The Chairperson noted that Medway Council was currently the only council with a Cumulative Impact Assessment within the new proposed authority, while neither Dartford Borough Council nor Gravesham Borough Council had adopted one. Although the report before the Committee was comprehensive, additional detail was required, and it was important that the Committee had all the relevant information before making a decision.

Decision:

The Committee agreed to defer consideration of the report on the Cumulative Impact Assessment for Medway. The report would be brought back to a future meeting of the Committee with additional information on timescales, engagement with consultees and the implications of the forthcoming Local Government Reorganisation.
