Decision:

202/2008 The Cabinet awarded the Medway Drug Intervention Programme element of the contract to Crime Reduction Initiatives, to take effect from 1 October 2008 and run until 31 March 2011.

Reasons for the decision:

Medway Council has a duty to deliver the Drug Intervention Programme under the terms of the annual Drug Intervention Programme Home Office Grant. Service delivery needs to be maintained when the existing contract ends on 30 September 2008. Effective drug interventions will reduce drug related crime in Medway. Drug Intervention Programme performance can contribute to the Partnership's achievement of LAA NI 16 - Serious acquisitive crime rate, NI 30 - Re-offending rate of priority & prolific offenders.Crime Reduction Initiatives have a proven successful track record of delivering Drug Intervention Programme across the country and delivered 7 out of the 10 highest performing Drug Interventions Programmes in London in 2007/2008.
