This report will update Cabinet on the issues being addressed to mitigate the forecast overspending reported to Cabinet on 25 September 2007

197/2007 The Cabinet noted the success of the action taken thus far in reducing the forecast overspending and instructed management to continue to rigorously apply the measures already agreed and seek savings to close the remaining gap.

Cabinet has the responsibility to ensure effective budgetary control to contain expenditure within the approved limits set by Council. Where a budget overspend is forecast, Cabinet supported by the corporate management team must identify measures to remove the excess expenditure.
