Development Plan Saved Policies

Decision Maker: Cabinet

Decision status: Decision made

Is Key decision?: Yes

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

To recommend to Council a number of proposals for saving or deleting Local Development Plan saved policies.

Decision:

46/2007 The Cabinet recommended to Council the formal submission of the Saved Policies to the Government Office, on behalf of the Secretary of State, in accordance with paragraphs 5.3 - 5.5 and 5.15 - 5.16 of Planning Policy Statement 12: Local Development Frameworks (PPS12).

Reasons for the decision:

Planning Policy Statement 12 indicates that the move to local development frameworks should not lead to any gap in coverage of development plan policies. It explains that where local planning authorities can demonstrate to the Secretary of State that saved policies reflect the principles of local development frameworks, and that it is not feasible or desirable to replace them within the three year period, it will be possible to seek the Secretary of State's approval to extend them. Such approval is now required prior to the 1 April 2007 deadline.
