Cabinet will be asked to approve the
Implementation Plans for the ten Sure Start Children's Centres to
be established in Medway by March 2008, including capital projects,
and the initiation of consultation on statutory changes to the host
primary schools.
12/2007 The Cabinet agreed that the Director
of Children's Services be authorised to implement plans for the
establishment of Sure Start Children's Centres at ten schools in
Medway within the budgets identified in paragraph 9.1 of the
report:
a) All Faiths Community Children's Primary
b) Brompton Westbrook Primary School
c) Kingfisher Primary School
d) Lordswood Infant School
e) Oaklands Infant School
f) Saxon Way Primary School
g) St James' C of E VA Primary School
h) St Margaret's at Troy Town C of E VC Primary School
i) Temple Mill Primary School
j) Twydall Infant School.
13/2007 The Cabinet agreed that the Director of Children's Services
be authorised to initiate public consultation on the variation of
the age range of Brompton Westbrook Primary School, from 4-11 years
to 3-11 years, to allow the admission of children aged 3
years.
14/2007 The Cabinet agreed that the Director of Children's Services
be authorised to initiate public consultation on the variation of
the age range of Kingfisher Primary School from 4-11 years to 3-11
years, to allow the admission of children aged 3 years.
15/2007 The Cabinet agreed that the Director of Children's Services
be authorised to initiate public consultation on the variation of
the age range of Oaklands Infant School from 4-7 years to 3-7
years, to allow the admission of children aged 3 years.
16/2007 The Cabinet agreed that the Director of Children's Services
be authorised to initiate public consultation on the variation of
the age range of Saxon Way Primary School from 4-11 years to 3-11
years, to allow the admission of children aged 3 years.
17/2007 The Cabinet agreed that the Director of Children's
Services, with the Governing Body of the voluntary aided school, be
authorised to initiate public consultation on the variation of the
age range of St James' C of E Primary School from 4-11 years to
3-11 years, to allow the admission of children aged 3 years.
18/2007 The Cabinet agreed that the Director of Children's Services
be authorised to initiate public consultation on the variation of
the age range of St Margaret's at Troy Town Primary School from
4-11 years to 3-11 years, to allow the admission of children aged 3
years.
19/2007 The Cabinet agreed that the Director of Children's Services
be authorised to initiate public consultation on the variation of
the age range of Temple Mill Primary School from 4-11 years to 3-11
years, to allow the admission of children aged 3 years.
20/2007 The Cabinet agreed that the Director of Children's Services
be authorised to initiate public consultation on the variation of
the age range of Woodlands Primary School from 4-11 years to 3-11
years, to allow the admission of children aged 3 years.
The provision of locally accessible support
for young children and their families, in partnership with key
agencies and local community organisations, through local Sure
Start Children's Centres within extended primary schools, offers
opportunities for significantly enhancing the life chances of
Medway's youngest citizens, particularly those living in more
disadvantaged communities. The proposals are fully consistent with
Medway's Children and Young People's Plan, and will be delivered
within financial resources available in ring-fenced government
grant.The initiation of the public consultation process will allow
views on the merits of each proposal to alter the age range of a
school to be sought and considered in detail.
