Decision Maker: Cabinet

Decision status: Decision made

Is Key decision?: Yes

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

To report on the outcome of consultation on the proposal for school places for three year olds.

Decision:

145/2006 The Cabinet authorised the Director of Children's Services to publish a public notice proposing a variation of the age range of Swingate Infant School to allow the admission of children aged three years with effect from January 2007.

Reasons for the decision:

The establishment of a Foundation Stage unit at Swingate Infant school would be consistent with the Council's duty to secure an education place for all three and four year olds whose parents want one.The public consultation process indicated significant support from parents and other stakeholders of the merits of the proposal. Ultimately, should there be a formal objection to the proposals set out in the public notice, the final decision will be taken by the independent Schools Organisation Committee.
