Purpose:

This report recommends a waiver of contract rules to allow the allocation of a 3-year grant to Medway District Citizens Advice Bureau to deliver a range of general advisory services to the residents of Medway.

Decision:

84/2006 The Cabinet approved the waiver of contract rules and authorised the award of grant subject to a service level agreement with Medway District Citizens Advice Bureau, over a three-year period, to provide general advisory services to the residents of Medway.

Reasons for the decision:

Medway District Citizens Advice Bureau is part of the national Citizens Advice Bureaux and has a well-recognised expertise in the delivery of advisory services. The service is accredited to the Community Legal Services Quality Mark for general advice and is accredited to the Citizens Advice quality standards and procedures, which forms part of the membership requirement.The allocation of grant and completion of the service level agreement will demonstrate the positive partnership working that exists between Medway Council and the Voluntary and Community Sector and underlines the willingness of the Council to continue to do so.
