Purpose:

The Anti Social Behaviour Act 2003 introduced a new requirement on all social landlords to have a policy in relation to anti social behaviour and procedures for dealing with occurrences of anti social behaviour. These documents will demonstrate the Council's commitment to ensuring all residents can live in quiet enjoyment of their homes. The policy and procedures will be accessible to tenants, residents and any other stakeholder that may need the Council's assistance in relation to any alleged instance of anti social behaviour.

Decision:

233/2005 The Cabinet approved the Anti Social Behaviour policy and procedures as annexed to the report.
234/2005 The Cabinet agreed that the Director of Health and Community Services, in consultation with the Portfolio Holder for Adult Services, be delegated authority to approve revisions to the policy and procedures as and when required.

Reasons for the decision:

Acceptance of the Anti Social Behaviour Policy and procedures will set down a clear benchmark as to what constitutes acceptable behaviour within the community of Medway.The policy will ensure that tenants and residents are fully aware of what is expected of them whilst giving officers the ability to follow the prescribed approved routes when dealing with instances of anti social behaviour.Acceptance of the policy will ensure the Council meets its legal obligation in relation to The Anti Social Behaviour Act 2003.
