11/2010 The Cabinet agreed to adopt the Special Educational Needs Policy and Strategy and that it be reviewed and adapted by officers as necessary, in consultation with the Portfolio Holder for Children's Services, on an annual basis.

Approval of the Strategy will enable Medway to deliver better outcomes for pupils who have special educational needs within its own 'in house' provision and start to reduce reliance on high cost out of area provision. By having an agreed strategy, which addresses different dimensions within the special educational needs, Medway partners across Medway can work towards common goals. Medway is required to set out its policy and strategy to meet the needs of pupils with special needs.
