Purpose:

This is a statutory document required under the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000, and is being produced by the Kent Downs AONB unit on behalf of partner authorities. The Cabinet is asked to approve the Plan prior to submission to the Secretary of State.

Decision:

252/2008 The Cabinet adopted the First Revision of the Kent Downs AONB Management Plan in fulfilment of its statutory duties under the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000.
253/2008 The Cabinet agreed that the formal date for adoption is set at 27 February 2009.
254/2008 The Cabinet delegated authority to the Director of Regeneration, Community and Culture in conjunction with the appropriate portfolio holders the responsibility to accept minor changes made by other local authorities during the adoption process.

Reasons for the decision:

The council has a statutory duty to prepare, review and adopt a management plan for the AONB (set out in the Countryside and Rights of Way Act, 2000). The plan needs to be in place by April 2009 and has been prepared by the Kent Downs AONB Management Unit of behalf of partner local authorities in Medway, Kent and Bromley.
