Decision status: Decision made

Is Key decision?: Yes

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Decision:

186/2007 The Cabinet authorised the Director of Children's Services to publish a public notice stating the intention to vary the age range of Kingfisher Primary School, from 4-11 years to 3-11 years, to allow the admission of children aged 3 years
187/2007 The Cabinet authorised the Director of Children's Services to support any proposal by the Governing Body of St James' CE VA School to vary the age range to allow the admission of children aged 3 years.

Reasons for the decision:

The provision of locally accessible support for young children and their families, in partnership with key agencies and local community organisations through Sure Start Children's Centres within extended primary schools offers opportunities for significantly enhancing the life chances of Medway's youngest citizens, particularly those living in more disadvantaged communities. The proposals are fully consistent with Medway's Children & Young People's Plan, and will be delivered within financial resources available in ring-fenced government grant. The publishing of public notices allows a period of six weeks in which any objections may be formally lodged.
