Purpose:
The report will present the recommendations of
the Education and Lifelong Learning Overview and Scrutiny Committee
regarding the content of the Youth Justice Plan. As a policy
framework document this will be referred to Council for
approval.
Decision:
133/2005 The Cabinet agreed to recommend to
Council that the Youth Justice Plan for 2005/06 is agreed and
forwarded to the Youth Justice Board for approval.
Reasons for the decision:
The plan seeks to ensure that Medway Council
and other agencies have effective strategies for addressing youth
crime.The Medway Youth Justice Plan has been reviewed by Overview
and Scrutiny, key partners have been consulted and the adoption of
a new plan seeks to address the underlying causes of youth
crime.
