Purpose:

This report provides the outcome of the Homelessness Services Review and includes an improvement plan addressing its findings. The Health and Community Services Overview and Scrutiny Committee will consider the outcome of the review and the implementation plan on 1 March and the Committee's comments will be incorporated within the report.

Decision:

50/2005 The Cabinet approved the implementation plan as set out in Appendix 1 to the report.
51/2005 The Cabinet noted the recommendations from the Health and Community Services Overview and Scrutiny Committee and instructed the Director of Health and Community Services to proceed at pace with the recruitment to the vacant posts.
52/2005 The Cabinet agreed, in relation to the increase in establishment recommended by the Health and Community Services Overview and Scrutiny Committee, to instruct the Director of Health and Community Services to produce a report identifying how the proposed new posts would integrate with the current approved structure and proposals for funding.

Reasons for the decision:

These decisions will provide a basis for continued improvement in service delivery. They will ensure opportunity and diversity in securing housing to meet the needs of the population of Medway in partnership with all types of providers.
