This report requests Cabinet to grant an easement to install electricity cables on Council land. This will ensure the electricity supply to Chatham, Rochester and Gillingham is maintained

11/2005 The Cabinet agreed to grant delegated authority to the Director of Finance and Corporate Services, in consultation with the Portfolio Holder for Finance, to grant EDF Energy a cable easement under land at Northbank House, Medway City Estate and Chatham Waterfront on the best terms reasonably obtainable.

New underground cables are necessary if the electricity supply to Chatham, Rochester and Gillingham is to be maintained. The new cable route through Chatham Waterfront will have less impact on the proposed development than the current route and this is an opportunity for the Council to receive a capital receipt.
