Purpose:

This report sets out the recommendations from the Children and Adults Overview and Scrutiny Committee concerning St John's Church of England Voluntary Controlled Infant School, following consideration of a call-in request from the Conservative Group.

Decision:

163/2009 The Cabinet authorised the Director of Children and Adults, in consultation with the Portfolio Holder for Children's Services, to publish formal proposals including statutory notices relating to the closure of St John's CE Infant School, from 31 August 2010.
164/2009 The Cabinet delegated authority to the Director of Children and Adults in consultation with the Portfolio Holder for Children's Services to determine whether to approve the closure proposals at the end of the statutory consultation period, if no objections are received, otherwise to bring a report back to Cabinet to determine the closure proposals.

Reasons for the decision:

To minimise the risks presented in paragraph 5 of the Cabinet report dated 17 September 2009 and for the reasons summarised in paragraph 6 of the Cabinet report dated 17 September 2009 together with the outcome of the Ofsted Inspection from September 2009.
