Purpose:
This report sets out the details of the free
swimming initiative from the Department of Culture, Media and Sport
(DCMS), the potential options and implications for Medway, and sets
out an overview of NHS Medway's funding for early implementation of
the scheme.
Decision:
16/2009 The Cabinet accepted the DCMS grant
for over 60s and under 16s, including the maintenance
allocation.
17/2009 The Cabinet accepted NHS Medway's funding of £75,000
for the early implementation of the scheme.
Reasons for the decision:
Participation in the scheme will help to
achieve a number of the Council's targets around obesity and active
participation in sport for both young people and adults.
