This report will request Cabinet to approve terms for the grant of a 5 year lease of land and buildings on the western arm of Gillingham Pier for the sale, storage, maintenance and repair of boats.

110/2007 The Cabinet noted the bids contained within the exempt appendix.
111/2007 The Cabinet agreed to grant delegated authority to the Assistant Director (Corporate Services) to grant a lease for a term not exceeding 5 years of the western arm of Gillingham Pier on the best terms reasonably obtainable.

Granting a lease for the entire site will ensure the best short term use of the land. It will regenerate those areas that are currently derelict and under utilised. It will maximise revenue income for the next five years and create a number of new employment opportunities in Medway, whilst retaining flexibility in respect of any future use of the Pier.
