Decision Maker: Cabinet

Decision status: Decision made

Is Key decision?: Yes

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

This will report back on formal consultation on proposals to introduce an alcohol control zone in Chatham, as requested by Cabinet on 5 September 2006.

Decision:

250/2006 The Cabinet recommended the following to Council on 7 December 2006:
(i) To make a Designated Public Places Order as set out in paragraph 5.1 of the report to create an alcohol control zone in Chatham in the area shown on the attached plan
(ii) To request officers to review the area and effect of the order 12 months following its implementation.

Reasons for the decision:

Having reviewed the information with regard to anti-social behaviour and being satisfied that a public consultation has been carried out showing general support for an alcohol control zone, Cabinet supports the implementation of an alcohol control zone in the Chatham area. This is in accordance with the Council's priority of reducing crime and anti-social behaviour.
