Purpose:

This report will update Members on progress on the programme. Proposals for phase 2 of the scheme will be presented along with recommendations to Council for funding on an invest to save basis.

Decision:

222/2005 The Cabinet recommended to Council that Phase 2 of the Customer First programme be financed through prudential borrowing on an invest to save basis for £776,000 on the terms set out in the report.

Reasons for the decision:

The Customer First programme is intended to improve service quality and accessibility at the same time as delivering efficiency gains. It is a key element in the Council's drive for excellence and its successful implementation will significantly assist the Council in achieving the proposed Customer Service PSA2 target. Cashable efficiency gains are realisable through further investment in the programme, contributing to the achievement of Gershon efficiency targets.
