Review of Primary School Places - Richmond Infant and Arden Junior Schools

Decision Maker: Cabinet

Decision status: Decision made

Is Key decision?: Yes

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

This report will consider proposals to go out to public consultation on a proposal to create a new primary school on the Richmond/Arden site.

Decision:

63/2005 The Cabinet authorised public consultation on the proposal to amalgamate Richmond Infant and Arden Junior Schools.
64/2005 The Cabinet requested that the Education and Lifelong Learning Overview and Scrutiny Committee review the consultation procedures for school organisation reviews.

Reasons for the decision:

This is an opportunity created by the retirement of the Infant's head teacher, which had the support of both governing bodies and head teachers. This proposal sought to address falling rolls, cramped conditions and provide the opportunity to gain the benefits of an all-through primary education.
