This report seeks approval for officers to
move the traditional Saturday market in Rochester to Sundays from
April/May 2005 following consideration by the Environment and Front
Line Services Overview and Scrutiny Committee.
42/2005 The Cabinet agreed to the move of
Rochester market from a Saturday to a Sunday with effect from
April/May 2005, on the terms set out in the exempt appendix, noting
that there will be full charging at the market car park on
Saturdays as a result.
43/2005 The Cabinet agreed to take no action to move the Sunday
Market to Blue Boar Lane and co-locating the Farmers' Market and
Market there.
44/2005 The Cabinet agreed to consider the possibility of
introducing a Farmers' Market along the High Street on a Sunday to
encourage High Street traders to open to bring the High Street to
life.
45/2005 The Cabinet agreed to introducing a car parking charges
amnesty on Saturdays for four weeks when charging is introduced and
to provide clear signage on the site.
The decisions seek to guarantee the continued
provision of a market in Rochester at weekends.
