Purpose:

Following reconsultation with residents in the Rochester West Ward (in particular, Roebuck Road, Castle Hill and Borstal Street), as requested by Cabinet on 18 February 2003, this will report the outcome of the consultation and make recommendations for controlled parking.

Decision:

131/2004 The Cabinet agreed the proposed scheme to introduce the controlled parking to the following roads:-Roebuck Roadfrom 8am to 7pm Monday to Saturday permit holder parking with limited waiting for 2 hours.Borstal Street from 7am to 10pm Monday to Saturday permit holder parking with one hour limited waiting. The Cabinet agreed that delegated authority be given to the Director of Development and Environment, in consultation with the Portfolio Holder for Highways and Transport, to consider any valid objections received following the advertisement of the intention to make the traffic regulation order, and to decide whether to proceed with the making of the order, with or without modifications.

Reasons for the decision:

To introduce controlled permit parking in Roebuck Road and Borstal Street in the Rochester West ward as requested by residents. These proposals are in line with the key objectives as set out in the Local Transport Plan.
