This report will set out the details of the first ever Conservation Plan for the castle and will act as a strategic conservation framework informing its future development and management of Rochester Castle as a scheduled monument and tourist site of international significance.

Decision:

180/2009 The Cabinet adopted the Conservation Plan for Rochester Castle.

Reasons for the decision:

The Conservation Plan will ensure a longer-term, strategic approach is adopted in relation to the management of Rochester Castle, an ancient monument of exceptional significance. It will also improve the opportunities to secure external funding.
