Decision Maker: Cabinet

Decision status: Decision made

Is Key decision?: Yes

Purpose:

This report considers the Council's response to the consultation on the CTRL domestic services circulated by the SRA and presents the findings and recommendations of a Select Committee of Kent and Medway members into CTRL domestic services.

Decision:

121/2003 The Cabinet recommended the proposed response to the SRA to Council on 9 April 2003 for approval.
122/2003 The Cabinet supported the report of the Select Committee on CTRL Domestic Services and its recommendations.

Reasons for the decision:

It is considered essential that the CTRL domestic train services come to Medway as additional services in order to improve travel conditions for train passengers to and from Medway, allow for growth in rail travel and offer new destinations, reduce traffic flows on local routes and the A2 corridor, give access to jobs in London, Thames Gateway and Medway and support economic growth and regeneration in Medway.
