Award of Waste Contract(s): Street Cleansing by Parish Councils

Decision Maker: Cabinet

Decision status: Decision made

Is Key decision?: Yes

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Decision:

137/2002 That the Parishes of Cuxton, High Halstow and the Isle of Grain be offered the option to clean their own streets.
138/2002 That the allocation of funding to the three Parish councils be at the level of the lower of the bid price by the alternative service provider or the Parishes.

Reasons for the decision:

These decisions are to ensure value for money and continuity of service provision. During the course of the Best Value Review of Waste Services, some Parish Councils expressed a wish to be allowed to submit prices to clean their own streets. This is consistent with the principle of stakeholder involvement in the provision of services and supports the Waste Management Strategy for Medway 1999-2004.
