SEN Home to School transport is provided under
Medway council's statutory obligations. Given the needs of the
children and the sensitivity of re-tendering these contracts, the
need to establish continuity in the changeover has been shown to be
of the highest importance. Competitive re-tendering of contracts
within the existing framework provides the best way to produce
value for money and re-asses and confirm the quality of the service
provided.
Relevant Overview and Scrutiny Committee: Children and
Adults
98/2009 The Cabinet agreed the award of
contracts as per the Record of Decisions and agreed that the
Director of Regeneration, Community and Culture be delegated
authority to agree an annual increase in price of the contracts, as
detailed in the addendum report, in consultation with the Portfolio
Holders for Front Line Services and Children's Services.
These awards will allow the continuation of
transport for SEN children currently accessing education via this
service and facilitate the entry into schools of new SEN pupils
joining the service.
