Purpose:
The strategy will support the strategic
direction of carers services in Medway over the next five years. It
will ensure that the needs of carers in Medway have been clearly
established and identified.
Relevant Overview and Scrutiny: Health and Adult Social Care
Overview and Scrutiny Committee.
Decision:
42/2009 The Cabinet agreed the Carers'
Strategy as set out in appendix 1 to the report.
Reasons for the decision:
The Council has a duty to assess carers under
the Carers and Disabled Children Act 2000 and a power, under the
same Act, to provide services to meet the needs of carers as
identified in the assessments. The Medway Carers Strategy
recognises the importance of carers assessments and the need to
provide services that meet assessed needs.
