Purpose:

This report advises the Cabinet of a recommendation of the Community Services Overview and Scrutiny Committee relating to decisions taken by the Cabinet on 25 September on the future of the Stirling Centre and the crèche at the Black Lion Leisure Centre, Strood and Hoo. These decisions were considered under the Council's call-in provisions at a meeting of the Community Services Overview and Scrutiny Committee on 30 October 2007.

Decision:

217/2007 The Cabinet agreed that opening hours for the Stirling Centre will be from 4pm on Tuesdays and Fridays and all day Wednesdays on a trial basis from January 2008, (in addition to the opening hours of 5pm - 11pm during weekdays and unchanged opening hours at the weekend).

Reasons for the decision:

Opening the Stirling Centre on the days and hours set out in the report on a trial basis for three months from January 2008 will enable officers to monitor the usage and review the situation at the end of the trial.
