This report sets out some options on the future secondary education provision in Strood for wider consultation

Decision:

156/2007 The Cabinet agreed to consult on establishing a new co-educational school in Strood on the Chapter school site, to instruct officers to enter into negotiations with potential sponsors and to issue a statement of intent to form an academy.

Reasons for the decision:

The Council has a statutory duty to ensure that an appropriate number of school places are available for Medway residents.The Council also has a statutory duty to ensure that its functions are exercised with a view to promoting high standards, ensuring fair access to educational opportunity and promoting the fulfilment by every child of his/her educational potential.
