956APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE
 
Apologies for absence were received from David Coomber (parish council representative), Anthony Dance (independent member) and Alan Povey (Vice-Chairman) (independent member).
957UPDATE ON STANDARDS ISSUES(A) MEETING BETWEEN INDEPENDENT MEMBERS AND THE STANDARDS BOARD FOR ENGLAND
 Discussion:
 
The Chairman updated the Committee on issues relating to a meeting of independent members he attended facilitated by the Standards Board for England.
Members discussed issues to be brought up at the next liaison meeting between the Monitoring Officer and Parish Clerks.
Members were informed of the interim Monitoring Officer arrangements before the new Monitoring Officer comes into post on 5 June 2006.

 Decision:
 
 (a)Members noted the issues raised by the Chairman arising from the meeting between Independent Members and the Standards Board for England;
 (b)Members asked that the Acting Monitoring Officer be asked to enquire whether it would be possible to provisionally book un-named places for the 5th Assembly of Standards Committees as the Committee had agreed to defer a decision on which Members were to attend;
 (c)Members asked that the issues of ethics and probity in planning be continued to be raised at the next liaison meeting between the Monitoring Officer and Parish Clerks. Members asked the Acting Monitoring Officer to look at updating the information packs provided to candidates wanting to stand in next year's Council and Parish Elections;
 (d)Members asked that Parish Clerks be introduced to the new Monitoring Officer as soon as possible after her coming into post;
 (e)Members agreed to cancel the Standards Committee meeting on 7 June 2006. The next meeting of the Standards Committee will be on 19 July 2006.
