The Sir John Hawkins car park was named as such due to it being previously being connected to Sir John Hawkins Way, which no longer exists. Sir John Hawkins is considered to historically be Britains pioneer slave trader and he profited significantly through trading thousands of Africans, with thousands dying during the horrendous journeys. Changing the name to something more respectful would be appropriate so as to not honour a slave trader in any way.
