Purpose:
The policy will outline the principles which
the Council will use in determining the appropriate method of
enforcement when the law is broken. The decision will be to accept
those principles.
Decision:
The Cabinet approved the policy, attached as
Appendix 1 to the report, as amended by sections 5 and 6 in the
report.
The Cabinet noted the levels of activity contained in Appendix 2 of
the report.
Reasons for the decision:
Effective enforcement significantly adds to
the safety of Medway and maintains a quality environment and
wellbeing of stakeholders. By providing an enforcement policy, the
Council can ensure that decisions to take action are consistent,
fair, transparent to the community and proportionate to any breach
of legislation.
